About me
Hello, I’m Matthew. I offer in-person counselling in a warm, welcoming space where you can talk openly about whatever is weighing on you, without judgement. My practice is rooted in the person-centred approach; I also have scope to work more flexibly, adapting my approach to what works best for you.
Counselling is, at its heart, time that is entirely yours: to speak honestly in a safe and confidential space, be heard, and make sense of difficult thoughts, feelings or experiences, both past and present. I won’t provide my opinion or advice; instead, I am trained to work with you to help you understand yourself and your problems more clearly, and to help you find your own way forward. Whether you have something in mind to focus on or don’t know where you’d begin, both are welcome; you don’t have to have it figured out before starting.
Alongside my private practice, I see clients on a voluntary basis with the Bridge Counselling service at the Bridge Community Project here in West Lothian.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch, and if I’m not the right fit, I’ll do my best to signpost you towards someone who is.
