What our clients have said

"Privacy, confidentiality, compassion, people who make you feel you matter as a person."
"Listen to you, make you feel at ease, no judgement."
"The welcoming environment, made to feel very safe, able to speak and be honest without judgement."
"Before counselling, I never saw much hope for the future and felt suicidal. Counselling has helped so much and things that I never realised about my past had been brought to my attention. I never loved myself very much but counselling sessions have taught me how to change my perception of myself and to look forward to a bright future."
"That you have someone you can talk to, someone who will listen and not judge. Someone who supports you at your weakest time."
"The highly empathetic and understanding nature of the service and also, crucially, the non-judgemental and extremely confidential professionalism. These aspects are vital to an individual feeling comfortable to be fully open, whence their circumstances may naturally incline them towards inhibitory behaviour."
"The counselling allowed me to have a safe space to talking about my emotions. I felt supported and understood. I valued the homework I was given and it helped me to recover from some past trauma."

Types of counselling available

Person-centred

‘Person-Centered’ is a popular approach used by counsellors. It offers clients an understanding approach by helping them get things off their chest. Counsellors will not advise or tell you what to do but will ask questions to help you clarify your thoughts and feelings.

This approach is popular as it gives the client the freedom to talk in a supportive and confidential manner, rather than using specific techniques to manage things. It will teach you to learn to trust yourself and help you to realise your potential.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on current issues more than focusing on your past. It believes that thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours all interact, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle.

Unlike other talking therapies, it considers practical ways to help you make changes to your daily life by using tools and techniques.
